Research PurposesThis research aims to:(1) apply Mind Mapping to improve listening skill on short stories, and
(2) to describe the precise steps of Mind Mapping to improve listening skill on short stories.
Research SubjectStudents class V of SDN Sigit II,Tangen, Sragen in academic 2017/2018 
Research Methodology

Using the Mind Mapping method when listening to short stories. This research is a classroom action research conducted for two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The collection uses observation, interviews, and documentation.

Research Processes

The implementation steps are as follows:

1) introducing Mind Mapping to students first;

2) explain how to make it;

3) then the teacher invites and directs students to first conceptualize a Mind Mapping that will be used for listening. This aims to avoid students not busy decorating their Mind Maps, in other words, to focus students on listening activities;

4) the teacher begins to speak a story or tell a story, when the teacher tells the student begins to fill out their Mind Mapping. So while listening, students will fill out their Mind Mapping. After completing listening, students will be given the opportunity to study the Mind Mapping they have made.

Research Results

Based on the results of classroom action research that has been carried out for two cycle can be concluded that the application of Mind Mapping can improve short story listening skills of grade V SD Negeri Sigit II in the academic year 2017/2018. 

As well as the steps for implementing the right Mind Mapping can be improve short story listening skills of fifth grade students of SD Negeri Sigit II 2017/2018 school year. The implications of this research are: 1) increasing students' short story listening skills; 2) add insight to students and teachers about the application of Mind Mapping to listen to stories; 3) the teacher gets additional references to create active and innovative learning.

Research Advantages

This study has a advantages such as, the explanation of the study is easily to understand, the process of collecting research data which does not take a long time and there is table of the result and explanation about it 

Research DisadvantagesThe disadvantages of this study focused only on the effect of the use of short story on students' listening performance. Consequently, attitudinal factors of the students were not identified.  And then there is does not mention the place or country / city of the study. the author only mentions the name of the university
